Adaminaby is a quiet Snowy Mountains town 453 km s-w of Sydney. The original town (1885) lies under Lake Eucumbene (Snowy Mts Hydro Electric Scheme - 1950s). Pastoral settlement began from 1830s with gold discovered around 1860.  Snowy Mts Trout Festival (Nov).

Tourist Attractions & Info:
The Big Trout (pictured), Lions Club Park the world’s largest trout built of fiberglass as a tribute to ‘the one that got away’. Historic Adaminaby includes the Uniting Church (1886) and Anglican church (1906) both of which were moved from the old town site.

Nearby:
Lake Eucumbene (via Old Adaminaby) the largest of the Snowy Mts lakes and abundant with trout and salmon varieties. Due to recent droughts, the dam levels have fallen revealing the old town’s ruins. Kosciuszko NP one of the world’s great national parks including the country’s highest mountains, the Snowy River and fantastic ski fields. Also of interest is Kiandra, an historic goldmining site and the Yarrangobilly Caves a myriad of 70 limestone caves.
