Balingup is a quiet and pleasant SW region service centre situated 236 km south of Perth. Sitting on the South Western Hwy between Donnybrook and Bridgetown, it is surrounded by rich dairy and potato farms, fruit orchards and forests. European settlement began in 1850s with the township formally established in 1898 together with the railway line. In more recent years, people fleeing the city hustle and bustle and seeking a more alternative lifestyle have been relocating to this scenic corner of WA. Golden Valley Tree Park (2 km south) 60 ha arboretum with many native and exotic tree species, walking trails and lookout. Balingup Heights Scenic Lookout (2.5 km west). Bibbulmun Track sections of the 963 km track pass through town. Wineries a number of excellent wineries in the area. Balingup-Nannup Rd spectacular scenery, interesting landmarks and excellent fishing and marroning.
