Barcaldine is a quiet Outback township situated 1 071 km n-w of Brisbane. This interesting and unusual settlement sits at the junction of the Landsborough and Capricorn Hwys and following a devastating shearers’ strike (1891) became the birthplace of the Australian Labor Party. Barcaldine is noted for its excellent Australian Workers’ Heritage Museum, Folk Museum and heritage buildings. Easter the Outback (Easter).
