Bargara Qld 4670 (Pop 5 700)

Bargara is a picturesque Coral Coast resort town 376 km north of Brisbane and just 13 km east of Bundaberg. This modern settlement also has some interesting history relating to the South Pacific Kanakas who worked in the sugar cane fields and who built stone walls and The Basin fashioned out of volcanic rock now used for swimming. The Hummock is a cone shaped volcanic outcrop offering excellent views and located between Bargara and Bundaberg. Just north of town is the Mon Repos Environmental home to nesting sea turtles between Nov and  Jan.
