Beaudesert is a picturesque SE Qld town in the Gold Coast hinterland. It is situated 65 km south of Brisbane on the Mount Lindesay Hwy and in the Logan River valley and was named after a huge property, Beau Desert stretching from the coast to Logan River. Today Beaudesert is a prosperous agricultural centre noted for its dairying, beef cattle and fruit & vegetable growing. Markets on the first Saturday each month. Country & Horse Festival (June), Rodeo (Oct).

Tourist Attractions & Info:
Beaudesert Historical Museum, Brisbane St excellent and extensive displays of transport equipment and the Historical Pioneer Cottage (1875). Open daily (9am-4pm.)  St Mary's Roman Catholic Church is a magnificent timber structure and the town’s greatest historical attraction.

Nearby:
Mt Barney NP (pictured 55 km s-w) World Heritage remote and rugged mountainous park with many beautiful valleys, caves, creeks, cascades and heathlands. Climbing Mt Barney, Qld's third largest peak takes experienced climbers 10 hours, but views from the summit are spectacular. Yellow Pinch walk (6.5 km) is a much easier option. Rathdowney (32 km south) interesting small rural service centre with an historical museum and great views from Capt Logan’s Lookout. Heritage Festival (Apr)
