Bedarra Island is an exclusive resort island within the Family Island Group. Capt Cook named it meaning ‘mother’ and European settlement began in 1913. It is situated just 5 km from the mainland between Townsville and Cairns and 6.5 km south of Dunk Island. Bedarra is made up of tropical rainforests and beautiful beaches, bays and coves. The island offers great water sports, bushwalking and sailing and access is by launch from Dunk Island.
