Belconnen is an attractive Canberra region/suburb located 9 km n-w of the CBD. It sits on Lake Ginninderra, a large artificial lake with a 6 km bicycle circuit. Belconnen's large town centre has some architectural curiosities and the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets, which are home to the Giant Mushroom, are held Wed-Sun. The University of Canberra and Australian Institute of Sport are nearby.
