Blinman is an historic Outback copper town located 508 km north of Adelaide. This tiny isolated settlement was named after the shepherd who discovered copper here in 1859. The town prospered until the copper was depleted (1918) and today Blinman is almost a ghost town surrounded by a stunning desert landscape and old mine remnants. Nearby:
Blinman Mines (n-e) old smelters and mining remnants. To reach the summit, walking or 4WD is advised. Great Wall of China (10 km south) unusual limestone formations. Chambers Gorge (80 km n-e) features a pretty waterhole in this desert landscape with Aboriginal rock carvings in a nearby gorge. Flinders Ranges NP (26 km south) spectacular 92 000 park of rugged ranges, rolling hills and River Red Gums along its creeks.
