Bremer Bay is a peaceful and idyllic SW corner village located 536 km s-e of Perth. Sitting on WA’s south coast between Albany and Esperance, and somewhat isolated, its beautiful beaches and sheltered coves provide an ideal holiday retreat with many water activities and natural attractions. Following early whalers and sealers in 1820s, European settlement began in 1850s enhanced by the advent of the telegraph station (1876). The pretty Wellstead Estuary is named after first settler, John Wellstead.

Water activities include swimming, fishing, boating, scuba diving, cruises and whale watching (Aug-Nov). Excellent surfing beaches are Dillon Bay, Native Dog Beach, Fosters Beach, Trigelow Beach.

Wellstead Homestead Museum (9 km s-w) home of original settler, John Wellstead now a heritage museum comprising thousands of exhibits, shearing sheds, stables, farming equipment and vintage cars. Fitzgerald River NP (17 km north) spectacular park encompassing almost 243 000 ha of coastline spanning north to Hopetoun and surrounding the inlets of the Gairdner, Fitzgerald and Hamersley Rivers. The park is renowned for its distinctive coastal hills - the Barrens, rugged cliffs, deep gorges and isolated beaches. Over 1 800 flora species have been identified - perhaps most famously, the Royal hakea and about 20 native fauna species. The park also offers excellent bushwalks, canoeing, fishing and camping.
