Bribie Island Qld 4507
Bribie Island is Qld's only offshore island connected to the mainland by a bridge (at Caboolture). Since its construction in 1963, it has transformed the island into a popular holiday and retirement centre due also to its proximity to Brisbane (70 km south). Bribie Island is 34 km long x 8 km wide with a population of about 15 000. One third of the island is protected by national park offering excellent bushwalking, watersports, birdwatching (350 species) and native fauna. There is a good selection of accommodation available.
