Brookton WA 6306 (Pop 1 000)
Brookton is located at the junction of the Brookton and Great Southern Hwys 140 km s-e of Perth. Although early settler, John Seabrook arrived in 1840s together with sandalwood cutters, the township was only established in 1890s thanks mainly to the Great Southern Railway. Today Brookton is a typical wheatbelt service centre surrounded by rich mixed farming. Local attractions include the Old Police Station Museum (08) 9642 1062; Nine Acre Rock; Yenyenning Lakes and Boyagin Rock Nature Reserve (10 km s-w).
