Bungendore is a pretty Southern Tablelands service township 265 km s-w of Sydney and just 40 km east of Canberra. Originally inhabited by the Ngarigu Aborigines, Europeans began settling the area in 1820s. Located in a scenic valley near Lake George, in recent years Bungendore has emerged as a charming tourist settlement with a number of galleries, cafés, antique shops and wineries. Bungendore Show (Jan), Country Muster (Feb), Rodeo (Oct). Rodeo is in October.
