Cervantes WA 6511 (Pop 550)
Cervantes is a pleasant quiet Coral Coast fishing village and holiday destination located 245 km north of Perth. Established only in 1962 and named after a whaling ship that sank nearby in 1844, the town’s fishing fleet almost doubles during rock lobster season, while springtime presents some stunning wildflower displays.
Nearby:
Nambung NP (17 km south) a stunning 17 500 ha park featuring tuart groves, pristine beaches, coastal dunes and flowering heathlands. Formed over thousands of years with the eroding of sea shells into lime rich sands, they were first discovered in 1849 but remained largely unknown until 1960s. The park is also home to a diverse variety of wildlife and birdlife. Lake Thetis Stromatolites (5 km south) the world’s oldest living organisms are found here and only five other locations in WA.
