Charleville is an attractive and interesting Outback town on the Warrego River 744 km west of Brisbane. European settlement began in 1860s and twenty years later it became an important Cobb & Co stopover point. The town’s transport links continued with Qantas’s first regular service taking off from here in 1922. Charleville is home to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of Distance southern Qld bases. The area is a rich cattle and sheep district. Diverse and spectactular Tregole NP (100 km east).
