The Big Cigar
Churchill Vic 3842
Churchill is a modern Gippsland township situated 160 km s-e of Melbourne. It was purpose-built in 1960s to house workers of the nearby Hazelwood Power Station - Victoria’s 2nd largest power station. Churchill was designed to eventually accommodate 40 000 residents and Monash University established its Gippsland campus here. The Big Cigar at the town’s entrance honours its namesake and a pleasant man-made lake provides an ideal recreational location.
