Coen is an important Cape York Pensinsula supply/service town 2 212 km n-w of Brisbane. It is located on the Pensinsula Developmental Rd leading north to mining town Weipa and the Australian mainland’s most northerly point, Cape York. Early gold finds established Coen in 1870s and today tourism helps sustain it. Coen Airport (24 km north) and magnificent Mungkan Kandju NP situated n-w.
