Comments[0] Coffin Bay - South Australia

Coffin Bay SA 5607 (Pop 480)

Coffin Bay is a picturesque isolated holiday destination on Eyre Peninsula’s southern tip situated 710 km west of Adelaide. The original small settlement was called Oyster Town (1840s) due to the vast supplies in the area which were quickly exhausted. Explorer Matthew Flinders’ name, for his friend, Isaac Coffin, was then adopted. Today fishing, cultivated oysters and tourism sustain the town’s economy.
