Daly Waters is a tiny settlement at the junction of Stuart Hwy & Carpentaria Hwys. Located 620 km south of Darwin and 212 m above sea level, it was named after the SA Governor, Sir Dominick Daly. Today it is more of a travellers’ stopover point and most famously is home to the legendary Daly Waters Hotel. Campdraft (Sept).

Daly Waters Aviation Complex (off Stuart Hwy) interesting aviation display in the Territory’s oldest hangar (1930) and fascinating history of having been an important airline staging point, an RAAF station and used for military manoeuvres. Stuart Tree (1 km north) has an ‘S’ marking on its eastern side thought to have been made by explorer, John McDouall Stuart in 1862. Larrimah (92 km north) features a museum with local transport relics and WWII building remains at Gorrie Airfield.
