Denmark is a charming resort town on the Denmark River located 421 km s-e of Perth. The river was named ‘Koorabup’ by the local Aborigines meaning ‘place of the black swan’. European settlement began in 1880s with an early timber industry subsequently replaced by dairying. Today the local economy is based around tourism, beef cattle, timber, fishing and dairying. Craft markets (Easter/Dec), Music Festival (Feb), Brave New Works (Easter).

The Bandstand
, Holling Rd situated on the river bank with audience seating on the river’s other side. Mt Shadforth Lookout, Mohr Dr excellent surrounding views. River Parks, Holling Rd include Berridge and Thornton with shaded picnic areas.

William Bay NP
(17 km s-w) stunning 1 900 ha park of coastal heathlands and rocky tors. Highlights here include Green’s Pool - a natural safe swimming pool, Elephant Rocks, Madfish Bay for excellent fishing and Waterfall beach. Ocean Beach (8 km south) one of WA’s best surfing beaches. Monkey Rock (10 km s-w) spectacular outlook. Fishing renowned in this area particularly at William Bay (17 km west) and Parry Beach (25 km west). West Cape Howe NP (30 km s-w) featuring an eco system of karri and jarrah forests and heathlands. Torbay Head is WA’s most southerly point and Cosy Corner is a safe sheltered swimming beach. Fishing and hang-gliding both popular pursuits. Wineries in abundance in the area. Heritage Trails include Mokare trail (3 km), Karri walk (5 km), Wilson Inlet trail (9 km).
