Eildon is a pretty township located in Victoria’s High Country 143 km n-e of Melbourne. It was established in 1950s when the Goulburn River was dammed to form Lake Eildon, Victoria’s largest man-made lake, used for hydro electricity & irrigation. Early timber- getting denuded a significant amount of the area’s pine forests however fortunately they were replanted in 1930s. Today Eildon is an important tourist resort with many watersporting activities. Eildon Water Festival (Oct).
