Euroa is a pleasant High Country township on the Hume Freeway 168 km n-e of Melbourne. Sitting at the foot of the scenic Strathbogie Ranges, the surrounding country is given over to fine-wool production. European settlement began in 1850s with Euroa becoming a regular coach stop between Melbourne & Benalla. The town was made famous by the daring bank robbery carried out in 1878 by famous bushranger, Ned Kelly and his gang who used the Strathbogie Ranges as one of their hideouts. Wool Week (Oct).
