Gnowangerup WA 6335 (Pop 650)

Gnowangerup is a quiet wheat/sheep service centre in WA’s South West region. Located 362 km s-w of Perth, it was first established in 1908 and its Aboriginal name relates to the “place where the mallee hen nests”. The area’s history includes early sandalwood cutters followed by pastoralists and today Gnowangerup is surrounded by cattle, sheep, wheat and grain-growing properties. Seasonal (Aug-Nov) wildflower displays, prolific birdlife and local mineral springs are all popular attractions.
