Goodooga NSW 2831
Goodooga is a tiny Outback settlement 822 km n-w of Sydney. Located some 20 km south of the Qld border on the Bokhara River, its name derives from the Aboriginal word for ‘Yam’. Many Chinese toiled in market gardens during 1940s & 50s probably lured to this remote corner by the prospect of finding gold & opals. Today the population comprises mainly indigenous Australians. Culgoa NP (22 000 ha) features woodlands, sandhills, seasonal wildflowers and a camping area on the Culgoa River.
