Great Western is a charming Grampians town and name of a well known Australian sparkling wine. Viticulture was established here in 1863 by two Frenchmen with subsequent wine growers producing excellent French style wines and champagnes. Located 223 n-w of Melbourne, this district is renowned for its numerous excellent wineries. Great Western Champagne Picnic Races (Jan).
