Gunning NSW 2581 (Pop 500)

Gunning is an rural Southern Tablelands service centre 243 km s-w of Sydney. Originally inhabited by the Gundungurra & Ngunnawal Aborigines, white settlement began in 1820s. Servicing prosperous sheep & cattle properties, Gunning is quieter and more appealing since being bypassed by the Hume Freeway. It has many heritage buildings of note with a number having been restored. There is also an interesting cemetery (Wombat St) and several churches.
