Howard is a pleasant Fraser Coast service centre 280 km north of Brisbane. Surrounded by sugar plantations and fruit orchards, it is situated near the Bruce Hwy and just 40 km west of Hervey Bay and Fraser Island beyond. There are a number of pretty seaside towns nearby (Toogoom, Burrum Heads) and Howard’s showpiece is a beautiful colonial home ‘Brooklyn’ the former home of a well respected Qld parliamentarian. The vast Wongi State Forest sits just west of town.
