Isisford Qld 4731 (Pop 260)

Isisford is a remote Outback settlement 1 087 km n-w of Brisbane. Established in 1870s by two brothers who settled in the area after breaking an axle while attempting to cross the Isis River. The town’s name is derived from Isis Downs Station and the Barcoo River ford nearby. Isisford has an interesting historic museum and Barcoo Weir offers great fishing and camping as does Oma Waterhole (15 km s-w) together with various watersports. Idalia NP (62 km s-w) is known for its wallaby habitat, panoramic Emmet Pocket Lookout & Bullock Gorge walking trail.
