Julia Creek Qld 4823 (Pop 600)

Julia Creek is a small Outback service centre on the Flinders Hwy 1 625 km n-w of Brisbane. It is located between Townsville and Mt Isa and is known as the 'Gateway to the Gulf'. It also proudly boasts of being North West Qld’s first European settlement. An early pioneer named the settlement after his aunt and niece in 1860s. Today main industries are beef and wool production. Dirt & Dust Triathalon (Apr/May), Campdraft (May).
