Kaniva Vic 3419 (Pop 900)
Kaniva is a Grampians service centre 415 km n-w of Melbourne. It is situated within the Wimmera district close to the SA border and was established in 1870s by wheat farmers and pastoralists which remain important industries. Kaniva is known as ‘Victoria’s Premier Smaller Town’ and also ‘Wildflower Capital of the Little Desert’ - a reference to its proximity to the Little Desert NP - the state’s 2nd largest park (1 300 sq km) known for its sandy ridges & spectacular wildflower displays.
