Kingaroy is a thriving South East Qld town in the South Burnett region 225 km n-w of Brisbane. It is known as Australia’s ‘Peanut Capital’ as well as ‘Baked Bean Capital’and its name is derived from the Aboriginal word for a certain type of red ant. A number of places have also been named after famous former Qld Premier, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen who made his home here for many years. Apart from the prosperous peanut industry where the huge peanut silos still define the landscape, several boutique wineries have been established and are proving highly successful.
