Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon NT

Kings Canyon is some 250 km southwest of Alice Springs and about 100 km west of the Stuart Highway on a corrugated dirt road in the Watarrka NP. It is well worth the trip once you see the canyon walls rising above the valley of Kings Creek (named by Ernest Giles in 1872). The canyon abounds in water holes of great beauty and a bewildering array of fauna and flora, while the plateau above displays rock formations reminiscent of an ancient city.

Visitor Information Centre: 60 Gregory Tce, Alice Springs. Tel (08) 8952 5800 or 1800 645 199.
