Koondrook is a small Murray River service town located in the NW of Victoria, 400 km north of Melbourne. Its twin town, Barham, sits on the river’s other side in NSW. Although Barham is in NSW, Melbourne is half as close as Sydney and as a result, the town is more economically and culturally tied to Victoria. Dairying, timber & citrus fruits are main industries. Koondrook State Forest (12 km n-w) covers 31 000 ha of native bushland, diverse flora, fauna & birdlife.
