Korumburra is a former coal mining town in Gippsland’s dairy and cattle district. Located 119 km s-w of Melbourne, it was first settled in 1880s with coal mining peaking in 1894. Today Korumburra is a pretty rural service town with arts & crafts shops and a dairy factory that world pioneered the production of edible casein, a milk protein. Tourism and wineries help sustain the local economy.

Nearby:
Cooks Hill great Bass Strait and Strzelecki Ranges views. Old Coalmining Sites include Ritchie Reserve (2 km east), Jimburra (6 km s-w), Outtrim (10 km s-w). Loch (14 km n-w) pretty town with arts, crafts and antiques. Poowong (18 km n-w) home of the Poowong Pioneer Chapel.
