Lobethal is an historic German village in the Adelaide Hills located 31 km east of Adelaide. German settlers, persecuted in their native Prussia, began arriving in 1830s and with their hard work and planting of vines and crops, the township prospered. Today Lobethal is the centre of fruit & vegetable growing, dairy & beef farms and wineries.

Lutheran Church Complex includes the oldest original Lutheran church, Australia’s first Lutheran Seminary (1842), the Lobethal Archives & Historical Museum and a number of historic graves. Lobethal Woollen Mill has been converted into an interesting costume museum with a collection dating from 1812.
