Loxton SA 5333 (Pop 3 600)
Loxton is a pretty Murray River rural service centre 251 km n-e of Adelaide. The town was named after an early settler, William Charles Loxton and a number of German immigrants began arriving around 1895. There followed many WWII servicemen enticed by the War Service Land Settlement Scheme who started growing grapes, citrus and dried fruits. Loxton Nature Walk a beautiful 3 km riverside walk passing the historic Peppercorn tree planted (1878) by William Loxton.
