Manuka is not an official Canberra suburb but covers parts of neighbouring Griffith and Forrest. Named after the New Zealand tea tree and the precinct after the street, Manuka Circle, Manuka is located 5 km south of the city centre. It is known for Manuka shops (est 1925), Manuka Oval (1929 - with a 15 000 capacity) and Manuka Pool (1930- Canberra's first swimming pool). Today Manuka is also home to the ArtSound radio station (FM 92.7 Mhz) playing jazz, blues, classical & folk.
