Merewether is an inner Newcastle suburb located 5 km s-w of the CBD. Sitting just south of the old Merewether baths (1930s), is the largest ocean baths complex in the Southern Hemisphere which lies on the same rock platform and is a huge local and tourist attraction in the warmer months.
