Millaa Millaa is a pretty Tropical North settlement on the Atherton Tablelands 1 642 km n-w of Brisbane. European settlers arrived from 1910 and the town’s name is said to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘waterfalls’ no doubt referring to the spectacular nearby Millaa Millaa Falls. There is a 17 km Waterfall Circuit including Zillie, Ellinjaa and Mungalli falls and Wooroonooran NP (Palmerston section) is 25 km s-w. Today Millaa Millaa is a service town for the rich surrounding dairy district.
