Mirani Qld 4754 (Pop 850)
Mirani is a quiet Mackay hinterland sugar town 979 km n-w of Brisbane. The area was settled in 1860 by an early pastoralist, John Mackay, after whom the city of Mackay is named. Sugar plantations were established soon after followed by the early township and railway. Mirani sits in the picturesque PioneerValley with the stunning Finch Hatton Gorge Falls and Eungella NP nearby to the west. A number of states forests also encircle the township - Bluff Hill, Mt Toby, Mia Mia, Ben Mohr.
