Mooloolaba is a popular Sunshine Coast holiday destination 98 km north of Brisbane. It is located at the mouth of the Mooloolah River and its important harbour hosts a number of well known annual yacht races. Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival (Apr), Sydney-Mooloolaba Yacht Race (Apr).

Mooloolaba Harbour & Wharf base for the town’s large fishing/prawning fleet, together with the jetty and marina where fishing trips, cruises and other sporting activities can be booked. Many specialty shops, cafes and restaurants also located here.

Mooloolah River NP (6 km s-w) stunning undeveloped 676 ha park preserving wallum heathlands and offering interesting fire trail walks and canoeing along the Mooloolah River. Alexandra Headland (north) another popular coastal resort town with panoramic Maroochy River and Mudjimba Island views, excellent beaches and foreshore parklands. Point Cartwright (Mooloolah River mouth) together with Beacon Lighthouse Reserve has magnificent coastal and harbour views and dolphin and turtle spotting offshore.
