Morawa is a pleasant Coral Coast region service town located 395 km north of Perth. Only settled in 1905, this typical wheatbelt town has the honour of being the site of Australia’s first commercial iron-ore exports.

Church of the Holy Cross & Old Presbytery, Davis St designed by architect-priest, John Hawes in 1930s of local stone and featuring louvred shutters to protect against the fierce summer temperatures. The Old Presbytery may be the smallest such building in the world with just enough space for a bed, chair and table. Historical Museum, Prater St housed within the old police station and gaol with interesting historic displays and memorabilia. Open by appt.

Koolanooka Hills Mine Site & Lookout (9 km east). Perenjori (18 km s-e) goldmining ghost town with historic church, St Joseph’s, designed by architect-priest, John Hawes. Koolanooka Springs Reserve (26 km east) popular recreation area.
