Mossman is a picturesque Tropical North Queensland sugar milling town 1 755 km n-w of Brisbane surrounded by scenic mountains and endless sugarcane fields. It was established in 1876 and named after early explorer Hugh Mosman, but the name was subsequently changed to Mossman to avoid confusion with a Sydney suburb. Markets each Sat. Music Festival (Nov).

Mossman Gorge (5 km west) located within the World Heritage-listed Daintree River NP offering scenic walking trails, rugged granite boulders and fascinating fauna species including the Ulysses butterfly. Cooya Beach & Newell are a series of popular coastal towns and beaches. Wonga (18 km north) interesting small town with orchid gardens and a great beach.
