Mount Magnet WA 6638 (Pop 970)
Mount Magnet is a mining and service town in WA’s Golden Outback 567 km n-e of Perth. The hill above the town was named because of the magnetic ironstone that affected compasses. Mount Magnet settlement was established in 1890s resulting from the Murchison goldfinds and flourished until WW1 began.
