Moura is a Gladstone hinterland region mining town 608 km n-w of Brisbane. It sits on the Dawson Hwy and promotes itself as the ‘Dawson Valley Coal and Cattle Centre’. Moura is also home to Qld’s second largest grain silos ensuring a good mix of industries for the local economy. The settlement was established in 1930s and coal mines followed in 1960s. Sadly, the area has a tragic history of three major mining accidents resulting in the deaths of almost 40 miners. Mine tours available. Tel (07) 4997 2888.
