Mount Buller is Australia's largest ski resort (263 skiable ha) located 264 km n-e of Melbourne. Sitting in Victoria's High Country within the superb Alpine NP, it was first established in 1940s. The downhill skiing facilities are excellent with an additional 9 km of cross country trails joining Mt Buller (1 804 m) to Mt Sirling (1 753 m). The resort offers a number of other sports (ice skating, tobogganing, snow-tubing) as well as a huge selection of accommodation, restaurants, shops, equipment hire etc. Warmer weather activities include abseiling, mountain biking, horseriding, fly fishing and whitewater rafting and there is a wealth of fauna, flora & birdlife to enjoy. Various bushwalks include Summit Walk (3 km return), Com Hill Walk (6 km return), Mt Stirling (13 km return).
