Tamborine Mountain is both a volcanic remnant and a number of small villages. Located 75 kms south of Brisbane, the name derives from an Aboriginal word for the area. The area is famed for its spectacular coastal views, rainforests, waterfalls and also its many macadamia, avocado and kiwifruit farms. The three main villages are Mount Tamborine, North Tamborine and Eagle Heights each with countless restaurants, cafes, galleries, craft shops etc. Tamborine NP covers an area of 1 160 ha and is made up of a dozen reserves, lookouts, woodlands, gorges, rainforests and many bird species.
