Narrogin is a pleasant substantial wheatbelt service town located 200 km s-e of Perth. Part of the Outback’s Heartland sub-region, Narrogin was established by early pastoralists in 1870s. The Great Southern Railway (1889) secured the town’s future as a prosperous rural centre. State Gliding Championships (Jan), Spring Festival (Sept), Rev Heads (car rally) (Nov/Dec).

Old Courthouse Museum, Egerton St (1894), the former school became a bank, courthouse and is today an interesting historic museum. Open Mon-Sat. Narrogin Art Gallery, Federal St excellent local exhibitions. Open (10am-4pm) Tues-Fri and (10am-12pm) Sat. Gnarojin Park, Gordon St award-winning park with local history and cultural artworks. Dryandra Woodland (22 km n-w) 28 000 ha of eucalypt woodlands and virgin she-oak and powderbark forests unique in this wheatbelt region. Flora and fauna abound with over 100 species of birdlife. Excellent bush trails explore this wildlife refuge that has special significance to the Noongar Aborigines. Yilliminning & Birdwhistle Rocks (11 km east) interesting rock formations.
