Nathalia is a charming, rather old fashioned Murray region settlement 237 km north of Melbourne. It is located on the Murray Valley Hwy and was settled by squatters in 1840s. A village was established in 1870s and Nathalia evolved into the small rural service centre it is today. There are a number of heritage buildings in town and the vast Barmah State Forest nearby contains Aboriginal middens and canoe trees, diverse flora & fauna and excellent birdwatching, bushwalking, fishing and boating opportunities.
Accommodation: Nathalia has a motel, 3 hotels & 3 caravan parks. Visitor Information Centre: 2 Heygarth St, Echuca. Tel (03) 5480 7555 or 1800 804 446.
