Natimuk is a Grampians region service centre 325 km n-w of Melbourne. Located on the Wimmera Hwy in the Wimmera district, Natimuk is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘little lake’ - referring to nearby Lake Natimuk (watersports & picnicking). Many early settlers were German immigrants who arrived from SA in 1870s. A major drawcard for Natimuk is Mt Arapiles-Tooan State Park (8 km s-w) featuring Mt Arapiles - one of Australia’s premier rockclimbing venues with over 2 000 climbing routes - and 14% of Victoria’s flora species. Nature studies, cycling & birdwatching are also popular pursuits.
