Nhill is an important Grampians region service centre in the Wimmera wheatbelt district. It is located 375 km n-w of Melbourne on the Western Hwy and is actually halfway between the capital and Adelaide. Squatter settlement began in 1840s with grazing, wheat farms & a flour mill following. A tournado in 1897 destroyed most of the the settlement. Country Music Festival (Mar).
